Rotherham United manager Paul Warne provides transfer update

ROTHERHAM UNITED manager Paul Warne expects the club to resolve their goalkeeping situation with the addition of two signings by early next week.

As it stands, Lewis Price is the only recognised senior keeper on the club's books, with last season's number one Daniel Iversen having returned to Leicester City following his loan spell with the Millers.

Offering a transfer update, Warne said: "We're close to sorting out our goalkeeping situation. I've got two keepers coming in. That's good.

"With Pricey already signing a new deal, that's the goalkeeping department sorted out.

"I (then) need another midfielder. I'm holding out for one. I'm also looking for another striker/wide man/'10'.

"We're still a bit weak in the left-back spot. I know Wes (Harding), Billy (Jones) and Matt (Olosunde) can play there and Robbo (Clark Robertson) could play there but none of them are out-and-out left-backs.

"With the intensity of the games, I don't think any of the back four will play all eight games in October. Another left-back is pretty prevalent in out thought process. We've got until October.

"We don't have to do everything in the next three or four days. We need to wait and see what the next potential wave of loanees are. There could always be a curve-ball who isn't on our list at the moment but suddenly becomes available and we think: 'He''d be perfect.'"

Meanwhile, Warne admits that the club have fielded some verbal interest from rival Championship clubs in midfielder Matt Crooks - but no firm offers, with the club hoping it stays that way.

On Crooks, the Millers chief, who has stressed that the club are under no pressure at all to sell, added: "There has been a phone call to the chairman, but it is just a phone call. There is no mutual bidding going on.

"It is just a 'what's your consideration on this player, what's your value of this player, would you like to do business'.

"I didn't take the call, the chairman took the call and he would have given whoever phoned him his valuation of the player and if they want to come back and meet that, unfortunately for us, as for every club in the world, every player has a price, even Messi. There hasn't been a bid so there is nothing to address?"
