Rotherham United transfer latest: Sheffield Wednesday forward & ex-Barnsley and Leeds United man signs
Wilks, who has previously played for Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers, Hull City and Barnsley alongside the Owls, has become the 14th summer signing at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
Millers manager Steve Evans, whose side welcome Bristol Rovers – managed by ex-Rotherham chief Matt Taylor – in their home opener on Saturday, said: "He's been an exceptional talent in League One, particularly in his time with Hull City.

"Mallik needs to be playing football. He needs to be loved, he needs to be all the things I associated with Mallik when he was a young professional at Leeds United when I was first-team coach there.
"He add something we've been seeking to add. We wanted another wide player. He's another piece of the jigsaw.
"We're immensely grateful to the chairman and everyone at Sheffield Wednesday for the last three or four days. They've been outstanding in trying to help us make it happen.

Having progressed through the youth system at Leeds before making his professional debut with the Elland Road outfit, Wilks had loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Grimsby Town in 2017/18 before enjoying his breakthrough season in 2018-19 whilst playing under Grant McCann on loan at Doncaster Rovers.
His tally of 16 goals and 12 assists in 55 appearances saw him named as Rovers’ player of the season as the club made the League One play-offs.
Wilks joined Barnsley on a permanent basis in the summer of 2019, but had an undistinguished spell at Oakwell and was loaned out to Hull – and a reunion with McCann – in the winter window of 2020.

The 25-year-old moved to the Owls in August 2022, but has had an indifferent couple of years at Hillsborough, having been on the fringes of Danny Rohl’s squad. Last season, he was afforded just one start in the Championship and his final appearance came in late March.
Wilks had previously been linked with summer moves to League One sides Charlton Athletic and Reading.
