Full-time: Rotherham United 3-0 Burton Albion

Rotherham got of to the perfect start in their plush new home back in the town centre with a comfortable win over Burton.

Rotherham began life at the New York Stadium after spending four years at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield.

Steve Evans’s side played in front of a full house of nearly 12,000 and they began perfectly, with an opening goal after just five minutes.

Daniel Nardiello was the man on the scoresheet, scoring from the penalty spot to give the Millers the lead.

And then six minutes later another new signing doubled the lead for the Millers, with Kayode Odejayi heading home from close range.

Then with 15 minutes to go, Rotherham made sure of the points to a cue a party atmosphere at the New York Stadium as Ben Pringle made it 3-0.

Burton, who were denied an equaliser when Adi Yussuf’s strike was ruled out for offside, were forced to play the majority of the second period with 10 men after Bell saw red for two bookings in four minutes.

Evans said: “I’m delighted with the performance and the result but there is room for improvement.”
