Rotherham have won promotion to the Championship after defeating Leyton Orient 4-3 on penalties after an enthralling League One play-off final.

The Millers trailed 2-0 in normal time and 3-2 on penalties before coming back on both occasions to secure a second successive promotion.

Alex Revell scored twice in the second half to cancel out goals from Orient’s Moses Odubajo and Dean Cox in the first half.

Then after Lee Frecklington had missed his penalty, Rotherham’s second of the shootout, goalkeeper Adam Collin stepped up to save spot-kicks from Baudry and Chris Dagnall to seal a 4-3 win on penalties.

Kieran Agard, Ben Pringle, James Tavernier and Richard Smallwood scored from the spot for the mighty Millers.

Full-time: Orient 2-2 Rotherham - The League One play-off final has gone to penalties.

Alex Revell struck twice in the second half for Rotherham, the second a screamer, to cancel out first-half goals for Orient from Moses Odubajo and Dean Cox.

107mins: Big saving tackle from Kari Arnason to deny Chris Dagnall after Lee Frecklington’s mistake gave the Orient striker a glorious chance.

Full-time: Orient 2-2 Millers - Two goals from Alex Revell, the second an absolute screamer, have sent an enthralling League One play-off final at Wembley into extra-time.

Rotherham looked dead and buried after Moses Odubajo and Dean Cox gave Orient a two-goal lead inside four first-half minutes.

But on 54 minutes Revell poked the ball home to pull the Millers back into the game before scoring a wonder goal from 35 yards on the hour, chesting the ball down and looping a marvellous volley over the head of Jamie Jones.

Half-time: Orient 2-0 Millers -Rotherham United have a mountain to climb if they are to earn a second successive promotion and reach the Championship.

They trail Leyton Orient 2-0 at Wembley after the Londoners scored two goals in four minutes before half-time.

Despite having the better of the possession, Steve Evans’ side fell behind on 35 minutes to a wonderful striker from 25 yards from Moses Odubajo.

With the Millers reeling, Dean Cox doubled the lead four minutes later when he was faced with a simple tap-in after Odubajo played the ball across the face of Adam Collin’s goal.
