Rotherham United target Tavernier
The Bradford-born full-back enjoyed a highly-impressive loan spell at the club from Newcastle United during the Millers’ promotion to the Championship in 2013-14 and joined Wigan Athletic on a full-time basis last summer.
Tavernier, 23, made just 11 league appearances for the Latics last season and was loaned out to Bristol City in January.

But he’s a Wigan player. I don’t know what has been going on behind the scenes if anything, but he’s certainly a player we’d like and love to have around.
“I know me and Steve (Evans) have spoken about how much we like him as a player. Whether that has gone any further than that, I really don’t know.”
The Millers have already brought in seven players this close-season, with their most recent recruit being utility man Greg Halford.
Defenders Lewis Buxton, Joe Mattock, Danny Collins and Tom Thorpe has also come in alongside Aidy White and Emmanuel Ledesma.
