Selection puzzle for quinn

BRIGHOUSE Town’s drubbing of New Mills on Monday night has given manager Paul Quinn a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round tie with Newton Aycliffe.

“Every man that occupied a shirt tonight deserves a place in the team on Saturday and I have a few players able to return, so it makes selection very difficult,” said a delighted Quinn.

“The injury list for us has been significant with Leon Henry, Ryan Hall, Adam Field and James Pollard all side-lined. However, Leon and Adam should be available for Saturday and we rested Martin Allison tonight.

“We picked up a few knocks this evening, so Matt the physio will take a look and then we will know where we are at.

“New Mills came to us after running Warrington close on Saturday and we knew they would be coming here to try and find their first points of the season.

“I was really pleased with how professional we were.

“We did get a bit sloppy in the second half but I can’t complain.”

Newton Aycliffe come to the Dual Seal Stadium (3pm) on the back of a comprehensive 6-2 defeat last weekend to Jarrow Roofing.

Prior to the game, manager Peter Dixon’s charges had beaten Bishop Auckland 2-0 and to get to play Brighouse, had beaten EBAC Northern League Division One Leaders Morpeth Town 2-0.

The Newtonians, who hail from near Darlington, are currently lying ninth in the table, having played six games and collected 10 points.

Chairman Alan Oliver is hoping to bring a good following.
