Alcock finally gets his chance to face old boys

The 26-year-old may be a veteran of more than 200 league games, but the Blades’ encounter with Peterborough United will be the first time he has faced a former club.
No wonder that when Alcock made the move north, tonight’s fixture at London Road immediately caught his eye.

“It will be a bit unusual for me. Over the last few years, I had not been in the position where I have played a former club. When Yeovil went up (to the Championship in 2013), Peterborough came down so we never played.
“Now I get two within the space of a year (United meet Yeovil on November 21). I don’t know what the reception will be like (tonight) but the priority is that we get a result.
“I am a Sheffield United player and we need a result. There have been positives to take (out of the opening games), but there has been enough to suggest we have the making of a good side.
