It will be the first time the two nations have gone head to head at under-21 level since 1993, with the game organised by the FA as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations.

Blades manager and ex-Scotland international David Weir said: “England versus Scotland at any level is a prestigious event and it is great news that our historic home has been selected to host a fixture between the Auld Enemy.”

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Burton Albion winger Jacques Maghoma on a two-year deal - beating off interest from a number of rivals.

Maghoma, 25, hit 18 goals last season for the Brewers, who reached the League Two play-offs.
