They came from behind to win at league leaders Bristol City and coach Chris Morgan claimed: “It’s a fantastic result. We knew it would be tough to come to Bristol City, who are top of the league, so for us to come away from home, score three goals and get three points is testament to the lads.

“We had words at half-time. Credit to the boys, they had a real good go in the second half and they played like we know they can play.”

A dull first half had sparked into life when on-loan striker Matt Smith converted Luke Freeman’s cross from four yards out to give City the lead on 41 minutes.

Deadline-day signing Matt Done levelled in the 54th minute, bundling home a rebound after Jason Holt’s shot had been parried by Frank Fielding.

Former Rochdale striker Done then put the Blades ahead in the 77th minute from Jamie Murphy’s cross for his third goal in two games.

Murphy consigned Bristol to their first home defeat since November by completing a Blades counter-attack on 82 minutes.

Steve Cotterill’s Bristol side remain four points clear at the top, but the Blades, who had made just one change with Terry Kennedy replacing Jamal Campbell-Ryce, are up to fifth after registering their first back-to-back League One victories since October.
