FT: Sheffield United 2 Notts County 1

Sheffield United came from behind to beat Notts County and leap above their Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday into second place in League One.

Alan Judge gave Notts County the lead on 17 minutes when his inswinging free-kick evaded everyone and nestled in the far corner.

But United equalised on the half-hour mark when Ryan Flynn turned in Richard Cresswell’s low, right-wing cross.

And then they took the lead five minutes into the second half when from a quick throw-in on the left flank, Stephen Quinn clipped a ball across the face of goal and County full-back Alan Sheehan put the ball into his own net under pressure from Richard Cresswell.

There was only one winner thereafter as the Blades looked to stretch their advantage.

County were reduced to 10 men at the end when Ismael Demontagne was sent off for violent conduct.

Danny Wilson’s side have now won their last five games in the league and their last seven straight in all competitions.
