VIDEO: British Masters champion and Blades fan Matt Fitzpatrick swaps golf for football
The British Masters champion – who for years had a season ticket with his family at Bramall Lane – has his initials engraved in red and white on the back of the clubs that he has used to rise to 46th in the world rankings.
“The Blades have certainly helped me along the way since turning professional,” said Fitzpatrick, who was at Bramall Lane to shoot a special film with Sky Sports about his remarkable first full year on the professional circuit.

Fitzpatrick - who was presented with a United home shirt with his name and the No 11 on the back - used to play for Hallam Rangers in the Sheffield Junior Sunday League.
His stadium visit took in the Legends of the Lane where he presented one of his clubs to Sheffield United's historian John Garrett. It will feature in a display commemorating United’s famous and celebrity fans.
“In terms of golf it has been the best year of my life, but I’ve also had a great afternoon here at Bramall Lane,” added Fitzpatrick, who hopes to be back in the country in time to watch United in action at Old Trafford in the FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United.
