League Cup second round draw sets up South Yorkshire derby and glamour game for Doncaster Rovers

Barnsley's rewarded for their penalty shoot-out win in the League Cup first round is a visit from Sheffield United in the second.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, Doncaster Rovers have drawn Everton for the second season in a row. Unlike last year, however, they will be travelling to Goodison Park for what is likely to be the last time ahead of the Toffees' move to a new stadium at Bramley Moor Dock in 2025-26.

Last season's semi-finalist Middlesbrough have been handed a home tie against Stoke City after their tremendous 3-0 win over Leeds United.

Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town were all handed trips to lower-division opposition, whilst Harrogate Town must show they have learnt the lessons of last season's thrashing at the hands of Blackburn Rovers when they take on Preston North End, who parted company with manager Ryan Lowe after starting their season with a home defeat to Sheffield United.

Barnsley overcame League One rivals Wigan Athletic on penalties in League One, whilst the Blades beat Wrexham 4-2.

Leeds, Hull City and Bradford City were the only Yorkshire sides to bow out at the first-round stage, and Leeds and Hull fell to Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

West Ham United versus Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest v Newcastle United are the only all-Premier League ties of the round.

The ties take place on the week commencing August 26.
