Aaron Ramsdale – three terrific saves 8

SHIELD: Sheffield United's Oliver Norwood

George Baldock – more full-back than wing-back but kept Phil Foden very quiet 7

Chris Basham – some good work to stop Gabriel Jesus getting a first-half shot away 6

John Egan – cynical booking was his only blot 7

Ethan Ampadu – should have dealt better with the goal, but otherwise very good 6

Jayden Bogle – like Ampadu, he was undone for the goal, out of position on the left 6

John Lundstram – did a good job in midfielder 6

Oliver Norwood – shielded the defence well and an excellent pass into Rhian Brewster 7

John Fleck – could have snatched a point 7

Rhian Brewster – put in a shift but his shot on the turn was weak 6

Oliver Burke – nearly created a chance for himself with his closing down 6.

David McGoldrick (for Brewster, 62) – started up front, then dropped into midfield 5

Oli McBurnie (for Burke, 78) – made a nuisance of himself 5

Billy Sharp (for Basham, 78) – chested down for Fleck's big chance 6.
