Player ratings as Sheffield United beat Aston Villa

Sheffield United recorded a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Bramall Lane on Wednesday evening.

David McGoldrick scored the only goal while Phil Jagielka was red carded on 57 minutes. However, the Blades withstood the pressure from Villa to claim their fourth win of the Premier League season.

Aaron Ramsdale - 8: Another solid display from the goalkeeper. Made some smart stops early in the game before producing a vital save down to his left in the 90th minute.

Ethan Ampadu - 7: Played his part in helping the Blades keep Villa out. Made an important block from a John McGinn shot in the second half.

Phil Jagielka - 6: Was on the end of a harsh red card decision but was forced into the foul after allowing Anwar El Ghazi to get the best of him. Made a great block early in the second half.

Kean Bryan - 7: Rarely put a foot wrong.

George Baldock - 7: Got the assist for David McGoldrick's match-winning goal, although it looked like more a shot than a cross.

John Lundstram - 7: Like most Blades players, did what was required of him.

Oliver Norwood - 7: Could have stolen the headlines with an audacious effort from his own half with Emi Martinez up for a corner in stoppage time but he miscued his shot big time. Another solid display in the United midfield.

John Fleck - 7: Solid display in midfield.

Enda Stevens - 7: Has been ever-present and reliable for the Blades in recent years, it was the same again this evening.

Rhian Brewster - 6: Struggled against the domineering Mings. Was substituted on the hour.

David McGoldrick - 8: His efforts deserved a goal. Pressed hard and took his goal really well by remaining alert to the potential opportunity.
