Ramsdale: Produced something akin to a one-man show to thwart Liverpool in the first half. Second deflected goal was cruel on him on the restart. 9

Ampadu: Ramsdale came to his rescue after a big mistake let in Alexander-Arnold in the first half. 6

Jagielka. A night for using his head in more ways than one. Came off early in the second half. 6

Bryan. Produced some probing diagonal passes and was composed enough at the back. Unlucky with the second goal. 7

Baldock: In the wars in the first half and put in a trademark amount of work. But could not dictate going forward.

Fleck. Had to muck in to stop Alexander-Arnold’s runs and made some key interventions. 6

Lundstram. Quiet night against his boyhood club. 5.

Norwood. Produced some nice deliveries and was assured enough. 7.

Stevens. Stuck to his guns and threatened at times down the left before the game petered out. 6

McGoldrick: Had the hosts best chances in the first half, but could not convert. 6

McBurnie: Had some joy against Kabak, but spurned two good moments in the second half. 6

Osborn: Entered the fray for McGoldrick early in the second half as Liverpool pressed. 6
