The pair arrive to provide competition for George Baldock and Enda Stevens, Premier League ever-presents last season.

Both have signed four-year contracts after joining for a combined undisclosed fee thought to be nudging into eight figures and they have profiles which suggest there should be plenty of improvement in them.

“Jayden and Max will put huge pressure on George and Enda," said manager Chris Wilder. "It was important we got the right characters, the right type of players, ones who are athletic and technically very good, both are modern-day wing-backs and I’m looking forward to working with them.

“We’ve got a clear plan and identification of what we need and we’re still going through that process. We’re not just signing players because other people are in for them, we’re signing these players because they fit into what we are about.

“It’s game on for everyone, it’s not a warning, it’s a fact and yet again I have to thank the board for making the two permanent signings happen because it’s a great bit of business for the football club.”

Although only 20, right-sider Bogle has already made 77 league appearances for Derby, scoring three goals. He played junior football for Reading and Swindon but his development was accelerated when he caught the eye of then-Rams boss Frank Lampard.

Left-footer Lowe, whose job will be to put pressure on Stevens, is a 23-year-old product of Derby's academy. He started last season at right-back but was mainly used on the left of defence, and has also played in midfield.

His senior debut was eventful, scoring the winning penalty in a 14-13 League Cup penalty shoot-out victory over Carlisle United in 2016.

After that he had loans at Shrewsbury Town and Aberdeen before establishing himself at Pride Park.

The Rams tended to play a back four last season, but switched to a three-man defence for Saturday's League Cup tie against Barrow, which Bogle and Lowe missed with their moves pending.

Wilder is targeting three more signings before the transfer window closes, with the focus on centre-forward and potentially another central defender.
