Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder 'very confident' that Dean Henderson will stay at Blades

SHEFFIELD UNITED manager Chris Wilder has expressed his confidence that Manchester United will allow Dean Henderson to remain at Bramall Lane for the remainder of 2019-20 - whenever it is finished.

Reports today have suggested that the Old Trafford outfit will let the talented Cumbrian custodian - on a second season-long loan with the Blades - extend his loan past June 30 if the campaign extends past that point.

It had been suggested earlier that the Red Devils would consider not allowing Henderson to stay in South Yorkshire after the expiry of the loan due to the fact that both themselves and the Blades are competing for a place in Europe.

Wilder said: "From Manchester United's point of view, we are coming into that time where they will make decisions in terms of extending or not.

"But I am very confident that Manchester United will let Dean stay with us to the end of the season.

"I don't think it is worth asking what Dean wants to do because I think you know the answer and vice-versa. If it was role reversed, I wouldn't think it would be an issue. But I have got to respect that Dean is a Manchester United player and we have got to respect every decision they make.

"If he goes back, he can't play. But I am sure Dean wants to finish off an outstanding season that he has already had playing for Sheffield United."

Meanwhile, Wilder has confirmed that he is confident of extending the loans of other players who are contracted at the club for the remainder of the season - if the campaign continues into July.

In that category are Mo Besic, Panos Retsos and Richairo Zivkovic.

Wilder added: "From a contractual point of view, we are looking to extend the players we have got at Sheffield United that are on loan.

"With Panos, Mo Besic and two or three others who we have got on loan, we are looking to extend those contracts that will expire."
