It is planned for Verrips to join Fortuna Sittard on loan initially before making his move permanent at the end of the campaign.

"There are bits happening," said Heckingbottom.

"Michael Verrips may be going out to a Dutch club. That's the only thing worth talking about, it looks like it's happening.

"It's a loan with a view to a permanent at the end of it."

The Blades were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday as they were beaten 3-0 by Premier League side Wolves at Molinuex.

Heckingbottom felt the scoreline was harsh on his side as United now aim to start climbing the Championship table.

“We wanted to still be in the cup, without a shadow of a doubt,” added Heckingbottom.

“But it’s all on one thing now, we can focus on that and nothing else. There’s things we can take away from this with us, going forward.

"There’s a lot of things we can learn from that, or be reminded about, such as the importance of being clinical in both boxes. But I don’t think it was a 3-0.”
