No details have been given as to why, so hopefully it is more of a precaution, with Stevens having played all of his country's two March World Cup qualifiers, defeats to Serbia and Luxembourg, and with the last match of the break being a friendly against Qatar in Hungary on Tuesday.

With the Blades short of central defenders, Stevens played in a back three in their last match, the FA Cup quarter-final defeat Chelsea. Their next game is at Elland Road on Saturday.

Centre-backs John Egan, Jack O'Connell, Jack Robinson and Jack Rodwell are all likely to miss out, with Chris Basham doubtful having picked up a knock in training in the run-up to the cup tie. Ethan Ampadu should be able to return having been ineligible to face the club he is on loan from, provided he comes through Wales's game at home to Czech Republic on Tuesday.
