David Storch outlines desire for 'positive impact' on Sheffield Wednesday's 2026/27 season

Prospective Sheffield Wednesday owner David Storch wants to complete a takeover in time to make a “positive impact” on the 2026/27 season.

It has been a dismal campaign for the Hillsborough faithful, who have seen their club win just once in the Championship.

Off-field turbulence rendered Wednesday’s squad threadbare and the Owls have been in administration since October.

After a series of setbacks, progress is being made and Arise Capital Partners are hoping to take control of the League One-bound club.

David Storch issues Sheffield Wednesday takeover update

Posting on social media platform X, American businessman Storch made it clear he wants to make an impact on Wednesday’s next campaign.

He said: “Everyone around me knows we are working it very hard. It’s a lot to do in a short period of time but we are putting pressure on ourselves and the other side so we can get in and make a positive impact on the upcoming 26/27 [season].”

Storch has spent the last week in the United Kingdom and has made a clear effort to connect to the community surrounding the club he hopes to take on.

In a separate post, he said: “[It gets] under your bones, under your skin and into your blood. It’s a beautiful thing to see/experience. Loving every minute.

“[There is] lots of hard work in front of us but we do see the light...the uniqueness of this ‘village’ and its people.”

Sheffield Wednesday’s on-field matters

On the pitch, Wednesday are battling to finish the Championship season as strongly as possible despite knowing their future is in League One.

Henrik Pedersen watched his side lose 2-0 to Stoke City yesterday (April 3) but remains hopeful a second league win can be picked up before the curtain comes down on the campaign.

He said: “I have a big belief in my players and I have a big belief that we can win a game again and I have a big belief that we can do it on Monday [against Leicester City].

“I see how hard the team work every day in training. I see the culture and how they are standing up for themselves.

“I have a big belief that we can surprise in one or two games and do something. We all want to invest to come onto plus points and to get the next win.”
