'We are dreamers' - Sheffield Wednesday chairman David Storch shares new message ahead of League One season

Sheffield Wednesday chairman David Storch has issued a new message for supporters

Sheffield Wednesday chairman David Storch has outlined his desire to bring “excitement and fun” back to Hillsborough.

There is a renewed sense of optimism in S6 following an incredibly turbulent chapter in the club’s history.

Dejphon Chansiri’s controversy-ridden ownership was brought to an end last year and after a protracted takeover process, Arise Capital Partners are in place as the club’s new guardians.

Wednesday were relegated from the Championship last season, although ambitious transfer market activity has built plenty of excitement for the 2026/27 League One campaign.

David Storch’s message for Sheffield Wednesday fans

Posting on X, Storch said: “For Michael Storch, Tom Costin, David Bruce and myself, our ‘goal’ is to put the excitement and fun back into SWFC for all. We have committed to keep you informed, invest in infrastructure and quality of play on the pitch.

“We ask to be judged by what we do, what you see starting on August 20, which will be 111 days since owning the club. We are dreamers working around the clock to bring our dreams, our shared dreams to life.

“This is your club. We aim to put the fun back into football for each and every one of you. Let’s have fun together! See you soon.”

Vow to manager and players

In a separate post, he provided an insight into conversations held with Owls manager Henrik Pedersen as well as some of the club’s players.

He said: “I’ve told Henrik, I’ve told the players I’ve spoken with… I will work hard to be the best owner I can be. I only ask of them that they work hard to be the best coach and players they can be. Up the Owls!”

Wednesday’s League One campaign will kick off in the capital on August 15, when Pedersen’s side will visit Leyton Orient. They will then return home to South Yorkshire to host Bradford City on August 20.
