Sheffield Wednesday's Leeds United-linked star Pierce Charles emerges as 'target' for QPR and Cardiff City
Sheffield Wednesday star Pierce Charles emerges as 'target' for QPR and Cardiff City
Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles has reportedly emerged as a target for Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City.
At just 20 years old, Charles is already among the most impressive goalkeepers in the Championship and established as Northern Ireland’s number one.
With the Owls preparing for the drop into League One, doubts over his future at Hillsborough have been intensifying.
A raft of high-profile clubs have been linked with the stopper, including Leeds United and his former club Manchester City. There has also been talk of interest from Rangers, where he would be reunited with his former coaches Danny Rohl and Sal Bibbo.

New Pierce Charles admirers named
According to Football League World, Charles is on the radar of Championship outfit QPR and promoted League One side Cardiff.
Both are said to have joined the race as they look to bolster their goalkeeping departments ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Charles would be quite the coup for either club considering a raft of Premier League clubs have been reported as admirers.
After Charles performed heroics against Leicester City earlier this month, Owls boss Henrik Pedersen said: “It gives our defenders great confidence to have a fantastic goalkeeper behind them. All of our players worked so hard, but Pierce was brilliant. He will play at the top level.”
The future of Sheffield Wednesday’s number one spot
If it becomes apparent Charles is going to seek pastures new, Wednesday will have to look at getting a new number one through the door.
One player they could look at is QPR’s Murphy Cooper, who is on loan at Hillsborough and has indicated he would be open to staying. If Cooper’s parent club do indeed move for Charles, there could be a mutually benficial agreement to be struck.

Earlier this month, Cooper told The Star: “Obviously, I'm a QPR player on loan at Sheffield Wednesday. I think my standpoint is that I absolutely love the club.
“I have only played seven games here and I have loved it, so I would be 100 per cent open to coming back - and that's something I could definitely want to happen.”
