Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal faces some welcome selection issues for this weekend's trip to Nottingham Forest.

Despite the Owls enduring a five-game winless streak, they have picked up clean sheets at promotion rivals Hull City and Brighton.

Against the Seagulls on Tuesday night, Carvalhal changed three of the back four as Liam Palmer, Joe Bennett and Glenn Loovens came in for Jack Hunt, Daniel Pudil and Michael Turner.

It means some players will be left disappointed when the team is announced at 2pm at the City Ground on Saturday.

“It is good part of the job,” said Carvalhal. “It is good when I have headaches.

“If there was any justice, I would play all the players but that is not possible.

“Everybody is ready and I’m very proud of my players as they are doing well.”

On-loan winger Aiden McGeady was also left out on Tuesday night, so comes back into the reckoning for Forest, as does Fernando Forestieri after serving his two-match ban.

“We are sharing the players and it depends on the opponents,” Carvalhal said, explaining McGeady’s absence on the south coast. “We do different strategies in games.”

Carvalhal said he does not rotate players just on a whim, and the Owls examine individual player’s fitness levels to get the optimum performance.

“In the second half of games, I think we are more fit than our opponents,” he said. “We are more strong in second halves because we have more energy.

“It is not a question of rotation. We are analysing the players all the time, checking to see if they are 100 per cent ready to play. Sometimes it is not a question of rotation. Maybe the players isn’t 100 per cent. It can depend on strategy.

“I have worked in different countries. What I like about England is the attitude of the players. They are very good pros and high dedication to their work. I like it and I appreciate how everybody works and fights.”
