The Owls played well in their first game under Moore's management, but were punished for not taking their chances, their only goal coming when Matthew Olosunde put through his own net. That apart, it was a good display, cruelly punished by Freddie Ladapo's winner in the final added minute.

“The lads are gutted in there, but I have told them not to be because the performance was there,” said Moore. “We have to keep believing, we are still in the mix.

“It's that killer touch (they are missing).

“It's a tough one to take. The performance was there. We need to change that mentality. We will continue to work.

“We put them on the back foot for large parts of the game.”

There was no doubt, though, where the hosts were found wanting.

“We should have scored more goals,” said Moore. “The players kept their belief after we fell behind.

“We will keep working. We are disappointed with the performance. It is hard one to take but we will go again on Saturday.

“We have to take one game at a time. We have to sharpen up in the final third.

“There is something there to work from.”
