Some slick passing was rewarded when Fernando Forestieri netted at the far post in the first half, and within two minutes, Kieran Lee added a second goal following a defensive mix-up.

Forestieri raced away to make it 3-0 at the start of the second half, and the Owls cantered to victory.

The Owls thought they had taken the lead when Gary Hooper netted, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.

Former Owl Jacques Maghoma also had the ball in the back of the net, but again it was chalked off for offside.

Rookie goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith produced several good saves, to deny both Jonathan Grounds and Andrew Shinnie, and earn a clean sheet in the absence of No 1 Keiren Westwood (leg injury).
