Sheffield Wednesday: Owls sign Scottish midfielder Bannan on free from Crystal Palace

SHEFFIELD Wednesday have completed their 15th signing of the summer transfer window with the capture of Scottish international midfielder Barry Bannan on a free transfer from Crystal Palace.

The midfielder, 25, who spent a brief spell earlier in his career in Yorkshire on loan at Leeds United, has signed a one-year deal after completing a medical last week.

Ex-Aston Villa schemer Bannan was in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park.

The Owls are still working towards some more incoming business ahead of the closure of the window at 6pm on Tuesday with a striker at the top of their list.

They have been strongly linked with Watford’s Matej Vydra and Norwich City forward Gary Hooper is another name on their list of targets.
