Wilson expects more Oakwell recruits despite triple signing

BARNSLEY manager Danny Wilson says his transfer business is far from over after a triple move to sign Milan Lalkovic, Ben Pearson and George Waring.

Slovakian forward Lalkovic, formerly on Chelsea’s books, has joined after being released by Czech Republic side FK Mlada Boleslav, having previously had loans at Walsall and Doncaster.

Lalkovic has signed an 18-month deal subject to international clearance.

Highly-rated Manchester United midfielder Ben Pearson, the Red Devils’ young player of the year in 2013 has joined for a month, as has young, 6ft 5ins Stoke striker Waring.

Wilson, who says Blackburn midfielder John O’Sullivan remains a target, said: “There are some more to come.

“We may have to wait a week or two for one or two of them. But we are hopeful.”

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Stuart Gray believes the Owls have secured a transfer coup following the signing of talented Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker, on the wanted list of top-fight clubs. Baker has joined on a youth loan, ending a long pursuit from Gray to secure his services.

Gray said: “His manager (Jose Mourinho) came out with a quote saying he would be very surprised if he didn’t go and play as a full England international.

“I have been chasing him for about six months, so it is great to get him in the building.

“He is a good signing, hopefully for the rest of the season.”

Rotherham United have made their first January move by signing Leicester forward Jack Barmby on loan. Son of former Hull City striker Nick Barmby, he hit five goals in 17 appearances during a previous loan spell at Hartlepool United.

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov has confirmed his interest in former Manchester City midfielder Abdul Razak, 22.
