There were some positives for the Owls, but they need wins, and did not get one. Chief football writer Stuart Rayner looks at how each player did.
Keiren Westwood – came off his line to make a good save from Andre Ayew, and commanded his defence confidently 7
Sam Hutchinson – solid in the back three, he clashed heads with Callum Paterson but carried on 6
Tom Lees – his mistake was decisive, and not his only one 4
Julian Borner – a mixed bag with some very good stuff but some howlers too. Lucky not to concede a penalty 5
Liam Palmer – got into some good crossing positions without finding his man often enough 5
Joey Pelupessy – not eye-catching but did a job in midfield 6
Barry Bannan – did his best to drive Wednesday forward 7
Adam Reach – worked hard at wing-back 6
Liam Shaw – given the freedom of playing in the hole in a 3-4-1-2, he never used it 5
Josh Windass – bright up front but unable to provide the much-needed goal 6
Jordan Rhodes – his last act was a brilliant slide tackle but unable to do what the Owls needed from him, heading a first-half corner over when backpedalling him 6
Callum Paterson (for Rhodes, 65) – Ryan Bennett brilliantly took a cross off his head 6
Izzy Brown (for Shaw, 65) – a difficult situation to come into 5
Andre Green (for Borner, 76) – the game was lost when he came on N/A.
