Sheffield Wednesday transfer news: Davis Keillor-Dunn confirmed as final signing of window

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Davis Keillor-Dunn from Wrexham.

The former Barnsley striker has joined on loan, but only until January because that was as much as the Owls were able to commit to within the financial restrictions they are operating under.

The 28-yar-old Wearsider earnt his move to north Wales in February on the back of 35 goals in a season-and-a-half at Oakwell, but is not the first player to find himself swallowed up there. He has yet to start a game for the Dragons, and has only made eight appearances from the bench, two this season.

Keillor-Dunn only became available very late in the window, and the transfer needed international clearance as he is joining from a club from another country, so Tuesday's 11pm transfer deadline came and went without clarity over whose player the 28-year-old will be over the second half of the season.

“It's such a huge club with massive ambition and I'm just buzzing to be a part of it and try and get the club where it needs to be," said Keillor-Dunn.

“Even before I knew of the interest I was watching, because it's such a big club and you don't want to see a club like that in a sticky situation.

“It's amazing for the football club to be in the place they're in and the clarity around the place and the ambition here is just fantastic. You'd be crazy not to want to be a part of it.

“I’m someone who just works his socks off for the football club and ultimately loves to create chances and score goals in front of big crowds.

“I'd like to see myself as a big-game player and score big goals for the football club, so hopefully I can do that.”

Keillor-Dunn enjoyed great success leading the line for Barnsley in the first half of last season, scoring 13 League One goals, but is equally adept playing off a targetman.

“Davis is an exciting signing for us and his arrival epitomises the collaborative team effort we have seen throughout the window, with (head of recruitment) Kevin Beadell and (chief executive) David Bruce playing important roles in getting this deal over the line.

“We have made a strong start to the season, particularly in the final third, and in Davis we have added another top attacking talent to the squad.

“He will suit our style of play and his track record at this level speaks for itself," said sporting director Simon Wilson. "His arrival caps a terrific block of work by our brilliant team behind the scenes, who have delivered throughout what has been a uniquely demanding window."

With no plans to go into the free agent market right now, the move completes the Owls' transfer business in a window which has seen 18 players brought to the club, 15 for the first time, and three more re-joining having turned out for the club last season.

Keillor-Dunn, who had a spell in Middlesbrough's academy, played first-team football for Ross County, Falkirk (on loan), Wrexham, Oldham Athletic, Burton Albion and Mansfield Town before joining Barnsley in 2024.
