The relegation battle will see the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, and potentially Huddersfield Town embroiled in the scrap towards the tail-end of the campaign, as the drama looks set to go down to the wire. Here's how the latest data algorithm (via FiveThirtyEight) has predicted the final Championship table will look at the end of the season:
17. 17th: Preston North End
Points total: 52. Preston were plummeting down the table prior to Alex Neil's exit, and the Lilywhites will be hoping a change of manager will see them pick up much-needed points. The simulation sees them comfortably secure safety. Photo: Alex Livesey
18. 18th: Huddersfield Town
Points total: 52. The Terriers kept the faith with Carlos Corberan, and it's been paid off with an improved run of form of late. They manage to finish eight point clear of the relegation zone. Photo: George Wood
19. 19th: Rotherham United
Points total: 51. The Supercomputer likes a bit of the Saddlers, it seems. Paul Warne's side have been tipped to make good use of their glut of games in hand, and power their way out of the relegation zone to safety. Photo: Alex Livesey
20. 20th: Derby County
Points total: 51. 'Wayne Rooney's Derby County', as they are destined to be known until the ex-England and Man Utd star's reign comes to a close, survive the drop, picking up a further eleven points. Photo: Gareth Copley
