In the meantime, record numbers of football fans have been taking to Football Manager to get their fix. For a bit of fun, we've fired up the popular management sim and sent the game into the future, to have a peek at who the Tigers are predicted to sign over the next two transfer windows.
1. A new manager at the wheel
You join us in summer 2020, and it's not great news, as FM predicts the Tigers to go down. Steve McClaren replaces Grant McCann, returning to the club where his playing career began.
2. Jonny Hayes - Free transfer - Celtic
It's a bit of a rebuild job for McClaren, and he gets things cracking with the veteran winger. He's won plenty of trophies in Scotland, and has been capped for the Republic of Ireland.
3. Ryan Williams - Portsmouth - 575k
After a solid season with Pompey, the Aussie ace makes the trip north to join up with the Tigers. He's a highly versatile midfielder, capable of playing as a winger on a number ten.
4. Josh McEachran - Birmingham City - 1 million
The Blues cash in on the former Chelsea youngster, who is eager to reignite his career. He's got the attributes necessary to thrive in the third tier, and will be a regular starter.
