Valerien Ismael on Barnsley FC's striker search

BARNSLEY head coach Valerien Ismael says that the imminent return of Cauley Woodrow and Victor Adeboyejo's re-introduction to the first-team squad is likely to put the club's search for another striking option on hold for the time being.

Top-scorer Woodrow has missed the Reds' last two games with a hamstring problem sustained in the warm-up ahead of the game at Millwall on October 27.

Adeboyejo returned to the first-team squad following injury at the start of this week and came on for Patrick Schmidt in the second half of Tuesday's defeat at Cardiff City.

Woodrow could return for Saturday's trip to Derby County, with Ismael hopeful that he and Callum Brittain will return to training on Friday if they pass fitness tests today (Thursday).

On any plans to bring in a striker - with free agents still able to move outside of the transfer window - Ismael said: "For the moment, we are only looking towards getting our players back - Cauley Woodrow and Victor - in the team to give us more possibilities.

"That is why I think at the moment that we have to be patient as I think that both players are very important and it could give us a little bit of time until January to get the right position what we need.

"That is why, for the moment, I am happy when the players come back as I can play with these guys and have a good feeling. But for sure, we know what we need to adapt more in the Championship (over time)."

Meanwhile, Romal Palmer and Jordan Williams could be back in the fray for the home game with Nottingham Forest on November 21, the first match after the international break.

Ismael confirmed that Mike Bahre, who has been training with the under-23s after falling totally out of favour, is out for several weeks with an abductor injury.
