Reports in the west country say that the bid tabled by the Millers for Purrington is in the region of £300,000.

On Purrington, interim manager Paul Warne said: “He has athleticism, which is a crucial thing for me, and gets up and down the pitch well and has played a lot of games for someone of a young age.

“It is a big move for a young man. As I said when took over in the caretaker role, I want to hand this team over in better fettle than when I got it. I think he will really add to this team.”

Warne wants to bring in another defender, on a permanent basis, alongside a forward and a winger before the closure of the window on Tuesday at 11pm.
