Wrexham 3 Guiseley 3: Rothery sees red in Wales


Guiseley made the perfect start with Gavin Rothery producing a smart finish with the first chance of the match, as the away side took the lead.
But Wrexham were soon level with Dom Vose producing great skill to cut into the area and fire a well-hit shot past Steven Drench.

Hide AdAfter getting the equaliser Wrexham grew into the game, with Drench being called upon again to make a save with Adam Smith bearing down on goal.
Just before half-time the hosts took the lead for the first time, when the dangerous Vose robbed the ball off Ryan Toulson and delivered a smart finish. It meant going into the remaining 45 minutes, Guiseley had a mountain to climb.
The second half saw Guiseley attack from the off and put pressure on the Wrexham defence, Liam Dickinson hit the crossbar with a free-kick, then Adam Boyes was unable to finish when placed in a good position.
But Guiseley did draw level with Dickinson getting a crucial touch onto a Rothery cross.

Hide AdAnd it got even better for the away side with Dickinson’s pass finding Boyes who fired a superb effort into the goal and sent the Guiseley fans wild.
There were a nervy last few minutes with Rothery being sent off for a lunge on Mark Carrington, and Wrexham took advantage of the extra man with Connor Jennings firing in the leveler in added time.
Despite being denied the win, Guiseley deserve credit for a fine display which nearly saw the side gain maximum points.
