Bury 2 York City 2: Wilcox continues to be a happy traveller

Goals from Jake Hyde and Luke Summerfield saw the Minstermen secure a share of the spoils at Bury having fallen behind to second-half efforts from Andrew Tutte and Danny Nardiello.

The result also maintained Russ Wilcox’s record of not losing a league fixture on the road since taking over from Nigel Worthington in mid-October.

Wilcox said: “Even though we came back from 2-0 down against a team that are good enough to finish in the top seven, there was still a tinge of disappointment as we created enough chances to win the game and it was a magnificent performance.”

On-loan Sheffield United striker Diego De Giorlamo missed the best chance of the first half when he fired over from eight yards after charging onto a loose ball.

The hosts, though, went 2-0 up within five second-half minutes.

First, Tutte’s optimistic 25-yard effort looped over Alex Cisak after deflecting off York defender Stephane Zubar on 57 minutes.

Unmarked former Rotherham striker Nardiello then headed in at the near post following Chris Hussey’s free-kick.

York reduced the deficit five minutes later when Hyde headed in his sixth goal of the season from Coulson’s deep cross.

Summerfield went on to claim his first goal for the Minstermen, curling in a brilliant 20-yard free-kick on 78 minutes after De Girolamo had been tripped by Kelvin Etuhu.
