Deadline Day: York make double loan swoop, Rovers and Millers move players on

YORK CITY have made a double striker swoop, bringing in ex-Sheffield United frontman Shaun Miller and Bournemouth frontman Josh O’Hanlon.

Both have joined on loan ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline, with Minstermen boss Russ Wilcox desperate to provide a goals boost to aid his side’s desperate fight against the drop out of the Football League for a second time.

Both Miller, 27, who joins from Coventry and Irishman O’Hanlon have signed on for the rest of the season.

Miller has scored one goal in 11 league appearances for the Sky Blues this season.

O’Hanlon, 19, is yet to feature in a competitive game for the high-flying Cherries.

Both players could make their debut for York in Saturday’s trip to Mansfield.

Rotherham United defender Richard Brindley has joined League One strugglers Colchester United on loan following his loan move earlier this term to Scunthorpe United.

The full-back, 21, has featured just three times for the Millers this term, making one start in the 1-1 draw at Norwich in early October.

Meanwhile, Millers reserve keeper Tony Thompson has joined Southport on loan for the rest of the season.

Zeki Fryers, who recently went back to parent club Crystal Palace following a loan spell at the Asseal New York Stadium, has joined Ipswich Town.

Bradford City left-back Alan Sheehan has linked up with League One play-off rivals Peterborough United for the rest of the season.

Sheehan only moved to Valley Parade in the summer but has found first-team appearances hard to come by this season making just 15 appearances for the club and scoring one goal.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough have boosted their numbers for their promotion run-in in a pivotal April by signing Swansea defender Dwight Tiendalli for the rest of the season.

The right-back, 29, will provide an experienced option in that position for remainder of the season, having moved to the Liberty Stadium from Twente in September 2012.

He follows Fulham centre-back Fernando Amorebieta in arriving at the Riverside on loan for the rest of the campaign.

On the outgoing front, fit again winger Mustapha Carayol, subject from interest from several Championship rivals including Nottingham Forest, has signed for Brighton.

Young Boro defender David Atkinson has joined Carlisle United for a month and Luke Williams has linked up with Peterborough for the rest of the season.

Emmanuel Ledesma has returned to Teesside following a loan spell at Brighton.

Doncaster striker Theo Robinson, out of contract in the summer, has headed to near-neighbours Scunthorpe on loan
