In League Two, York City lost 1-0 at second-placed Shrewsbury Town.

Mark Ellis netted the only goal, converting Bobby Grant’s corner with a powerful diving header.

Victory means Shrewsbury need to win one of their final two fixtures to seal promotion to League One.

York City manager Russ Wilcox said: “The only disappointment was the goal we conceded.

“We pride ourselves on being good in both boxes so to concede a soft goal after being the dominant team after the first 10 minutes was disappointing.

“We spoke at half time about being brave with the ball and I thought in the second half we were tremendous.

“You’ve got to remember we’re coming to a team that’s lost one game at home all season.”

In the Conference, FC Halifax Town slumped to a 2-0 home defeat to Torquay United.

Second-half goals from John Campbell and Kadell Daniel did the damage.
