FT: Exeter 2-1 York City

Last week they lost 3-2 at Bristol Rovers, while today it was a 2-1 reverse at Exeter City.

It had all started promisingly for Nigel Worthington’s side who led through Ryan Jarvis on 19 minutes.

It was Jarvis’s fourth goa of the season, but that fact that he is the only one scoring for the Minstermen is the more telling statistic.

Alan Gow equalised within a minute of coming on as a 21st-minute substitute.

The left-footer then grabbed the winner 17 minutes from time to send York home pointless.

Worthington’s men sit 20th in League Two.

The manager said: “There was commitment, energy, there was a lot of good quality stuff in there so from that point of view for an away performance, excellent.

“The two goals are where the mistakes have been made, they have not stayed with the runner in the first one and the second one we’ve not come out to close the ball down quickly enough which entices the lad to shoot and the ball beat Michael Ingham in goal.

“But we were creative we got the balls in the box which I’m very pleased about over the course of the last two games.

“It’s just a case of keep doing what were doing and hopefully we can cut out the goals against and get one or two more for.”
