Kettering 1 York City 5: York scorch to victory with Walker so sharp

A BRILLIANT first-half display of attacking football saw York City crush Kettering Town, £60,000 signing Jason Walker scoring twice to take his total to five in four matches.

York’s lightning raids saw them built a four-goal lead and there was never any question of a Kettering comeback with Michael Ingham seldom troubled in goal.

York, who had Scott Kerr back in midfield in place of Matty Blair (calf injury) were on top from the kick-off and struck two goals in a minute.

Jason Walker set up the first for Andre Boucaud from close range then Adriano Moke crossed from the left for Walker to score with a first-time volley at the far post.

York went 3-0 up after 30 minutes. Lanre Oyebanjo crossed for Smith to flick on and Walker netted with a low shot.

The Kettering defence was reeling and York increased their lead on 39 minutes with Walker and Chambers combining to set up Moke to score.

Kettering hit back in the 43rd minute when Moses Ashikodi made the opening for Leon McKenzie to score.

Kettering tried to reduce the gap further after the interval with York seemingly content on holding their big lead. Marna and Challinor shot wide but York nearly went further ahead when Moke hit the far post on a cross shot.

A minute from time new signing Danny Pilkington made it 5-1 from Chambers’s pass.
