Nathan Dyer got Swansea off to the perfect start inside two minutes before second-half strikes from England Under-20 international Matty Grimes - his first goal for the club - and a late third from substitute Marvin Emnes settled matters.

York manager Russ Wilcox was delighted with the Minstermen’s performance and felt his side had done League Two proud.

“We stuck at it and wanted to keep the score at 1-0 as long as we could and hopefully get an opportunity from a set-play or a good piece of play,” Wilcox said.

“The most pleasing thing was that we created opportunities but those players have done York and League Two proud.

“I was delighted when I saw their team because you think it gives you an opportunity to cause a shock.

“But they have got that much quality and strength in depth it’s difficult, they’re top-class players and the gulf between League Two and the Premier League is amazing.”
