York City 1 Plymouth 2: Minstermen suffer against leaders

York City slipped to a home defeat today against leaders Plymouth Argyle in League Two.

It was manager Jackie McNamara's first league game in charge but the Minstermen could not deliver.

Jake Jervis headed in Graham Carey's cross to open the scoring for Argyle.

Carey - who also hit the crossbar in the second half - drilled in the second goal following Gregg Wylde's cross.

York battled back and Ben Godfrey hit a consolation goal in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Ten additional minutes were played after York's Dave Winfield was stretchered off midway through the second half with his neck in a brace after a clash of heads with Argyle defender Peter Hartley.
