Frankie and York’s big race...

IF Frankie Dettori wins next week’s Juddmonte International, he will become the winning-most rider in the history of the 10-furlong Group One race inaugurated in 1972.

Both Dettori and Lester Piggott have five wins apiece in the International – the Italian’s wins have come courtesy of Halling (1996), Singspiel (1997), Sakhee (2001), Sulamani (2004) and Authorized (2007).

“The best has to be Sakhee – he won by seven lengths and was a great horse,” said Dettori. “I was only a kid on Halling and Singspiel while I was pleased Authorized was able to show his class after losing the Eclipse.”
