Bingley St Ives are Yorkshire Team Champions

BINGLEY St Ives won the Yorkshire Team Championship at Hessle GC by three shots from Rotherham.

Wheatley and Ilkley had led at the halfway stage, but Bingley St Ives and Rotherham leaped past them in the afternoon, with the trio of Terry Brushwood (70 71), Andrew Town (75 74) and Dane Bairstow (78 68) prevailing with a 436 total.

Harrogate placed third, nine shots adrift of the champions.

Bairstow’s 68 was the best round of the afternoon, equalling the score compiled by Martin Brown (Pike Hills) in the morning.

Rotherham’s Matthew Evans had the best individual 36-hole aggregate of 139 (69 70).
