EuroPro Tour winner Armitage makes good start in Glasgow

HOWLEY HALL’S Marcus Armitage lies seventh after the first round of the Glenfarclas Open at Mar Hall in Glasgow following a two-under-par 68.

Armitage, who last month won the GRENKE Championship at Cumberwell Park on the HotelPlanner.com EuroPro Tour, had five birdies and three bogeys. He trails leader Aaron Rai by four.

Chris Halley (Malton & Norton) is one behind Armitage after a 69 having amalgamated three birdies with two bogeys.

Rotherham’s David Booth was level par after a 70 (two birdies, two bogeys) with Hallowes’ Scott Campbell the next best Yorkshire representative on 71.

Other Yorkshire entrants in the 54-hole event are: Joe Heraty (Moor Allerton), Paul Lockwood (Hessle) and James Maw (Sheffield) all 72, Michael Skelton (Middlesbrough), Graeme Clark (Doncaster) and Richard Law (Wakefield) all 73, Tom Perry (Abbeydale) 75, Nick McCarthy (Moortown) 77, and Steve Uzzell (Hornsea) and Adam Walker (Huddersfield) both 79.
