Wheatley’s Karen Wilkinson lifts YLCGA’s Challenge Bowl

WHEATLEY’S Karen Wilkinson just got the better of Moortown’s Judy Owens to win the YLCGA’s Challenge Bowl at Doncaster.

The final was closely contested with Wilkinson winning on the last green.

The new champion had beaten Otley’s Patricia Harrison in the semi-finals while Owens got the better of the host club’s Karen Winfield.

There was some consolatuion for Winfield in posting the best net score of the competition with Lynn Harrison (Hallowes) the next best.

Otley had the best gross team score (267) and Moortown the best net (226).

Tri Am victory went to Hallowes’ first team.

Greensomes winners were Sue Stuart-Brown and Jean Lamb (Rudding Park).

Next year’s competition will be held at York.
