Woodsome Hall hold celebration for new European Tour player Chris Hanson

WOODSOME HALL members turned out in force to welcome back Chris Hanson from Spain and celebrate his acquisition of a European Tour card for 2016.

Club captain Andy Green was away on business in the USA, but sent a message of congratulations to add to many others from people delighted at the 30-year-old's achievement.

Vice president Malcolm Greenhalgh said: "Andy said how proud he was, as members were, that Chris had achieved his card, the first pro at Woodsome to do so.

"He wished him a very successful season and said that all would follow his progress."

Hanson, who thanked everyone at Woodsome for the support he has received over the years, dedicated the moment to his late father John, himself a very good golfer, who encouraged him to take up the game.

He also mentioned the backing he has received from his family, including wife Laura, and also thanked his long-serving caddie Steve Tooby.
