Yorkshire golf: Hallamshire’s Barclay Brown unable to hold onto lead in England Under-16 open

CLOSING rounds of 76 and 78 cost Hallamshire’s Barclay Brown ​his chance of victory in the ​North of England Under-16 open amateur stroke play championship at Heswall GC​.​​

​​The Sheffield open amateur champion​ ​had led by three shots after two rounds ​with scores of​ 69 and 71​, but slipped to a tie for fifth.​​

Victory went to Harry Goddard (Hanbury Manor) who won by four shots with rounds of 75 71 73 68​.​

Brown’s Hallamshire club-mate Alex Fitzpatrick (75 76 73 73) and Rotherham’s Charlie Daughtrey (75 77 76 69) shared ninth place.

Pannal’s William Eardley (76 75 75 81) was tied 25th, one shot ahead of Cleckheaton’s Megan Clarke (80 75 76 77).

Isaac Turner (Woodsome Hall) was equal 36th (79 77 78 77) and Joseph Allenby, of Hessle, was tied 47th (79 75 81 82).
