The Sheffield golfer beat the odds again recently, this time of12,500-1 with a hole-in-one - and it was witnessed by his twin brother Steve.

Galbraith, 66, scored his ace on the 176-yard, par-3 15th at Abbeydale GC, and was rewarded with membership of the BOSS Watches H1Club.

The five-handicapper received a limited-edition, commemorative BOSS timepiece as recognition for the achievement.

"I was playing with my twin brother, Steve, and good friend, John, when I achieved my hole-in-one," said Galbraith.

"Uncannily, my brother and I play off exactly the same handicap - 4.9 - and both started golf when we were 27. Before this hole-in-one, we each had five holes-in-one, and have on a number of occasions finished the season on exactly the same handicap - to the decimal point."

German brand Boss has rewarded club golfers with an exclusive watch for every hole-in-one recorded during a club competition in 2015, and has given away more than £1.5m of limited-edition timepieces since the competition's launch in 2013.

The scheme is open to any golfer whose club uses HowDidiDo - a free-to-use, web-based social network for golfers - and anybody playing in official club competitions is eligible. Currently, more than 1,800 clubs use the website.

Stephen Brydon, commercial director for MGS Distribution, the official licenced UK distributor for BOSS Watches, said: "For most amateur golfers, a hole-in-one is as memorable as winning the Masters would be to a professional. We want to ensure they have something tangible by which to remember the day, other than an expensive bar bill."

In addition to the watch, Galbraith joins more than 10,000 members in the BOSS Watches H1Club, which offers access to exclusive benefits and merchandise.

No extra registration is required to participate in the BOSS Watches promotion as all official club competitions are recorded on the HowDidiDo system, so holes-in-one are noted and automatically ratified by the golfer's club.
