Yorkshire golf: Veteran Ladies are crowned Northern England champions
Victory over Cumbria at Penrith sealed the title when Yorkshire champion Julie Wheeldon led the way by defeating her Cumbrian counterpart Rosie Waller 3&2.
Karen Jobling enjoyed double that margin of victory as she triumphed 6&4 against the hosts’ captain Kathryn Bulman, which gave her a clean sweep in her five matches of the campaign.

Hide AdPat Wrightson halved with Nicola Tebbutt, Sandra Paul won one up against Brenda Ewbank and Carol Simpson saw off Jeanette McWhirter 3&2.
The last two matches resulted in emphatic wins for Yorkshire, Judy Butler enjoying a 6&5 victory over Alyson Wood and Jackie Barraclough overwhelming Sue Cotter 6&4.

Cheshire, like Yorkshire, lost only one match all season, but the White Rose team lifted the championship for the first time in three years thanks to the hefty margin of their triumphs against Northumberland, eclipsed 7-0, and Cumbria, beaten 6.5-0.5.
