Dan Cammish could be crowned the 2019 British Touring Car Championship champion at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

The Morley driver holds second place in the championship just 16 points behind current leader and reigning champion Colin Turkington – but with 67 points up for grabs in the three races on Sunday he is in prime position to make a late push for the title. After a slow start to the season, Cammish put together a run of 11 podiums in 17 races in his Honda Yuasa Racing Honda Civic to drag himself into contention for the overall crown in just his second BTCC campaign.

“It’s not a million miles away, 16 points,” said Cammish on the task ahead on Sunday on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. “If you’d said that in the middle of the season, I wouldn’t have believed you. The team have done great, I’ve been consistent and we’ve put up a fight.

“The BMW [Turkington’s car] is the fastest thing out there when it’s like for like – they’ve done a fantastic job. They’re still scrabbling around though, trying to get the job done. I’ll keep hanging in there and make myself a nuisance.”
